Objectives

1.   To establish, maintain and promote the Library, Documentation and Information Services to setup professional standards in the state.

2.   To co-ordinate and co-operate with authorities concerned with planning, programming and developing of all aspects of library, documentation and information services in the state.

3.   Support Library and Information Professionals to Improve quality of employment

4.   Tryout to resolve employment problems and issues for LISP

5.   Guide to the state government to open-up new career advancement and scope for the LISP

6.   Empowering Library and Information professional status and prestige in the state as well as in the nation.

7.   Conduct analysis and research for finding real problem and solutions in Library information services sector in the state

8.   To co-operate with other State, National, International and other organizations with similar objects.

9.   Organize round tables discussions, meetings, symposia, conferences, seminars, workshop improving information and library standards in the state.

10.                To safeguard, protect and promote the rights, privileges, status, interests and welfare of the Librarians and Information Science professionals.

11.                To do all such other things as incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above mentioned objects.

12.                To establish, maintain and promote the Library, Documentation and Information Services in Gujarat and to setup professional standards for such services.
